Spam e-mails advertising poorly-run bittorrent tracker Wunza.ws hit the Web this week, but staff at the fledgling movie tracker say they’re not to blame.
An unsigned note posted to Wunza’s main page on Friday denied responsibility for the e-mails. Staff, according to the note, have no idea who’s sending them.
Wunza launched this fall, around the same time Scene Movies (now Pass the Popcorn) appeared. Both private trackers run What.cd’s Gazelle codebase and focus on movies. Users, though, clearly favor Pass the Popcorn — it has 15 times more torrents and more than twice as many active users.
Given Wunza’s failure to attract users, spam e-mail might make sense — if the site wasn’t advocating copyright infringement on a massive scale. This note sheds light on just how poorly Wunza has fared.

A copy of the spam e-mail, forwarded to me by reader devnull, after the jump.

Wunza – A New Gazelle Movie Tracker
Site Name: Wunza.WS
Signup URL: http://wunza.ws/register.php
Upload: Everyone has upload rights.
Description: Wunza is another promising dedicated movie tracker that is fairly new to the Bittorrent scene. More than 1000 new users have signed up at Wunza in the past two weeks alone. There is some work to be done in the torrents section and currently only around 150+ torrents are online. But this number is gradually increasing and don’t forget that Wunza is a brand new tracker. The site is currently open for new signups
Don’t forget that this tracker runs on Gazelle which means faster navigation, smooth, informative and customizable user interface.

Well you’re a hater aren’t you. Here’s some advice if you’re being bothered too much by emails. Kill yourself.
